2008 Penny War

The Junior Senior club is hosting a penny war! The class with the most penny points in preK-6 will win a movie and a popcorn party. The rules are simple: your class collects pennies over a three week period. If your class sees another class with more pennies they can drop nickels, dimes or quarters (any silver coins) into that classes jar. Silver coins subtract from the penny points collected from that class. Proceeds from this fund raiser will help pay for a graduation senior trip. Jars will be provided to your class. They will be emptied each Thursday. If your jar gets full before then, Student Council can come and pick up your jar, empty it and return it to you ASAP. There will be a chart in the main hall way so that students and staff can keep track of how they are doing in the war!

New School Uniforms

Students, parents, teachers were invited to the school board meeting last spring to discuss whether Mt. Tipton should join the rest of the district in wearing uniforms. The uniforms were introduced to keep the students safe; it also lessens teasing and bullying. If a student comes to school without the school uniform on, they will be sent home. Our first Street Clothes Day will be on September 29, all grade 7-12 students must pay $2 and K-6 students must pay $1 to wear regular clothes that day. On picture day you may bring your own shirt to wear for your portrait.

If you need a shirt you can go to Mystic Whispers and see Mrs. Smith. She charges $4.50 for all sizes and types of shirts for Mt. Tipton School. The shirts are also available at Tacky Stuff for Horses and several Kingman vendors, including WalMart. All vendors besides Mystic Whispers charge at least $5 for the High School shirts. Most vendors are selling the KUSD Elementary shirts for $4.50, but may charge more for adult sizes.

Hat Day is 8/28/2008

Bring $1 Thursday to wear your hat in school!

Mt. Tipton Sports Club

Mt. Tipton Sports Club will have two parts, Middle School and High School.
Middle School will consist of 5th grade through 8th grade; High School will be 9th grade through 12th grade. The sports club sponsors team sports at Mt. Tipton. They will be offering girl’s volleyball, boy’s and girl’s basketball, and they would like to offer flag football, soccer, and softball, however they need coaches and scheduled games. Due to budget constraints all clubs will be forced to pay for mileage and the bus drivers’ wages, so we are trying to get the community to attend games and help pay for this. There will be a $1.00 dollar entrance fee.  Keep an EyE on this blog for home game dates.

Mt. Tipton Desert Habitat

Mt. Tipton School is going to establish a tortoise desert habitat. This will be a school wide project. That means that   the students who are interested can help out, with the maintenance of the habitat. The project will be located between the High School and Middle School quad. The hope is to adopt a tortoise or two that will be permanent residents. Anyone who would like to make any donations time and money will be welcomed. If anyone will like to donate their 2008-2009 tax credit will be greatly appreciated.

Site Council meets at 4:30 PM August 19th in Mt. Tipton Library

The Mt. Tipton Site Council meets once per month during the school year, generally on the third Tuesday of each month.

Arizona site councils are authorized to help school administrators develop character education programs and provide counsel on issues that affect both the school and the community it serves. We also control the tax credit money donated by local residents in lieu of paying up to $500 of Arizona state income taxes. We are allowed to spend this money on extra-curricular activities and character education programs.

Please join us if you are interested in becoming a member of the site council or participating in planning for Mt. Tipton’s future.

If you are interested in taking advantage of this incredible tax credit that allows you to keep your tax money in your community, please call the school at (28) 767-3350.
